update: Mendoza, Argentina

hello hello
first of all - congrats again to the newly weds Alex and Esther (guys, i hope you got my email), and Acharei Hahagim sameach to all of you.

guys, argentina is fun! for those of you who havn´t been here - you´ll see the photos and hear the stories when we´re back. the landscape, the cities (and we havn´t been to BA yet), the meat (and other foods), the people (yes, you got me - the girls) and the atmosphere... it´s sooo great. for those of you who have been here before - it´s all you remember - but cheaper!

there are downsides, of course. first of all, we´re a little cold, and our bathing suits from Mexico aren´t working here. second, i´m not sure we´ll be able to eat meat again when we are back in Israel. it just ain´t the same. third, well... that´s it. ohter than that, it´s all fun!

we didn´t update for some time ´coz we got into a "european travelling" tempo from Iguacu up to here. we ran a little but i guess we´ll stop to relax for the next few days. anyway, we owe you some details.

we´ve been to the Iguacu falls, both from the Brazilian side and the Argentinian side. i´m not going to say anything about it, because it would be too presumptuous even trying to describe it. it is amazing, of course, as they all say in "passport" and "masa olami", but it´s hardly enough. it is nature at its best - powerful, graceful and all that (i would have said humusful but that will have to wait ´till we´re in israel).

from the iguacu we took a 24 hour bus to Cordoba, to meet Marco´s mother. we planned on spending some time there, but Naama liked the ride so much we just spent the day and then caught the night bus for a short 12 hour ride straight to Mendoza, where we are now. Cordoba didn´t offer a lot to see but before we left we stopped for dinner at a local "beef temple", for the best steaks we ate in years - maybe ever. (not to mention it was a fancy restaurant, and the whole dinner for two with a bottle of red wine cost 100 nis).

you see, life is hard - and it´s just getting worse. Mendoza is the primary source of Argentina´s best wines - the new hype of wine fineshmakers. this not only means that an average supermarket here has more than a hundred different kinds of wine (you guessed again - from 7 shekels for a bottle) it also means they do vineyards tours here - yes, wine tasting! not that we wanted to go, but you know - if we must we must, and after all, it´s a mission - we must fill you in on what´s going on in this part of the world. well... it´s great. there, i said it.

that´s about all for now. plans for later: mainly down south. we´re on our way to the lake district, and hopefully later on to Patagonia. the weather has some say in that matter. summer is coming, i just hope it´ll be soon enough. anyway, we hope for the best.

all the best to you all
i wish you as minimal Shvizut Acharei Hahagim as possible
see you
yuval

Hello Carnivorous amigos,
Looking forward to seeing pics. from the iguacu spectacle.

I wish I could join you for a couple of good steaks. I'm sick and tired of the schnitzels, stew and Eucanuba at home.

Taasu chaiim,
Yours, Pettel
